Tending Your Inner Garden:

Are you needing a gentle journey through the year that keeps you in tune with the subtle shift in the seasons, both in the world around you and within you?

Apologies for the jingling noise in the video. And thanks for watching!

This offer is for you if:

  • you are exhausted from the stresses of a very difficult year and ready to be kind to yourself
  • you would like to join in a small group intimate setting to celebrate whatever is emerging within
  • you are deeply needing connection to your own inner guidance and wisdom
  • you are craving spaciousness and peace
  • you would like to step out of the stress of a goal-oriented world, that focuses on outer achievement and tune into your inner rhythms
  • you are craving connection with the deeper and cyclical rhythms of nature
  • you would like to follow your own inner calendar and time frame, rather than one imposed externally
  • you are deeply in need of the sense of trust and safety that only comes from connection to something larger than yourself
  • you would like to step away from a world of judgments and "mistakes" and instead into a place of experimentation and exploration
  • you are willing and ready to play!

TENDING YOUR INNER GARDEN, CROSS-QUARTER CELEBRATIONS:

In each of these afternoon sessions (if you are in the EST time zone) we will spend time in making a wheel of the year with mini-altars that you can use throughout the year. There are many options of levels of engagement with making the wheel, adapted to various experience levels with art-making and sewing abilities. And there is an option of creating a wheel using paper. There will be time for making in the sessions. But to fully complete the wheel and altars, you will have to do some work on your own. There will also be some ritual, poetry and sharing.

* What are the cross-quarter holidays? These are the quieter holidays that mark the time of year equidistant between the solstices and equinoxes. I could say a lot more about how these are celebrated as Celtic holidays but you can look that up if you are interested. Some say these markers of the changing of the season were celebrated by the ancient Celts. Others say they were invented in modern day. I just love that they give us a chance to tune in, take quiet stock and reconnect to the seasons, to the earth and to our bodies.

I love these holidays for many reasons, (none the least of which is that each of the members of my family gets to celebrate their birthday at one of them!) This year I am going to offer an afternoon on Zoom that will be low key and will give us a chance to recognize and tune into the more subtle changes in the weather, orientation of the sun and moon and what might be happening in our bodies at these times of year. This year I am offering the Zoom sessions on the actual days of the holidays to get the full impact of the energy of the sacred day.

You have the option of  signing up for all four at once if you choose. These will be afternoon Zoom sessions.

Entire Year of Tending Your Inner Garden-includes sessions for the whole year

Early bird deadline: Monday, January 22nd
Final deadline: Monday, January 29th

Frequently Asked Questions-

For TENDING YOUR INNER GARDEN:
  • Are the cross-quarter holidays religious holidays?  I've never heard of any of these holidays.. That's perfectly OK. The holiday is a touch point as a way to tune into our connection to our deeper selves and to nature, rather than a religious celebration. I would love to hear about different ways of celebrating these times of leading into the seasons, if you know of others. This is meant to be inclusive.
  • I've heard about the wheel of the year being part of a pagan holiday and also I've heard of witches celebrating these holidays and I'm not a witch and am not interested in that. You don't have to be a witch to celebrate and acknowledge these holidays. I definitely don't consider myself a witch or a pagan. Some of these traditions date back to a distant past and have "pagan" roots, but many are very recent adaptations. Mostly, it is important to know that you can adapt and adjust these traditions and rituals to meet your own needs.
  • I'm not an artist and I want to make a wheel of the year, with altars. Do I have to know how to paint and sew? It might help to have some sewing abilities to make the cloth wheel of the year. Detailed instructions will be given for the cloth wheel of the year with altars. I will suggest simpler ways of adapting these ideas and you also have an option of making a wheel in paper. You should be able to figure out ways of adapting the instructions to make a paper wheel, and I will help with any questions if you need guidance.  This is more about process rather than perfection.
  • What if I don't have access to a lot of sewing and art materials? Can I still make an altar and participate? While the materials are not very complicated, you may need to order a few simple supplies. Please do ask if you need assistance in finding the supplies mentioned on the list.
  • Do I have to make a wheel with altars? You don't have to. All the suggestions are here to help deepen your experience but there are other ways of taking part in this experience.
  • How do I pay for the course? Click on the button below "shop." You will be taken to a page where you can sign up using your credit card. See below for more details about sign up.
  • What if I can't make the Zoom sessions (because of time zone differences or something else?) You will get the most out of the course by participating in the Zoom sessions but if that is not possible or if you miss a session, they will be recorded and made available to those who sign up for the course.
  • Can I get a refund if I change my mind after signing up? Unfortunately, no. Because this is a digital offering and there is no way to return the material once you have signed up, I am not able to offer a refund.
"The session was engaging, contemplative, and thought provoking. For me, this has been a season of tending the garden, rediscovering meditation, and truly trying to be present in the moments. I love this class! "

Erika's wonderful classes are always enlightening and inspiring to me. Her current course on the Cross-Quarter days of Beltane, Lammas, Samhain and Imbolc have really added to my usual acknowledgment of the wheel of the year.  Erika never settles for simply what sits on the surface of things, but uses her research, inner knowing, and curiosity to add depth and meaning to what she is teaching. I will always be ready to sign on to what she is doing next!!

"The class helped me get over a creative block. It definitely met my expectations, in terms of getting insight to Imbolc and definitely did spark my creativity. I loved that it focused on a Celtic holiday. I might use the other holidays and solstices and equinoxes to do a series."
